Review: Robert Silverberg

1935 - present

I know Robert Silverberg as a science fiction writer.

I discovered Robert Silverberg around the 8th grade. At the time he was my favorite writer.

I recall, once I was at home reading Robert Silverbergs Night Wings. I also had the headphones on and I listening to some early moody blues. And I was thinking, the combination of the two was a formula for making me very happy. Probably the happiest I had ever been to that point.

His early books tended toward the outer space. The latter ones had a variety of sci fi topics.

I would say he had 2 or 3 sets of books.

  • The early books - my favorite
  • The latter books - also good.
  • The majipoor chronicles - to me, these were more fantasy than sci fi. But they were a series so I liked the idea.

I don’t know, but I think he was a history teacher and some of his sci fi was historical sci-fi.

Some of his movies include

  • Bicentennial man - this was a popular movie that I never saw
  • Needle in a time stack - I never saw this.
